For more than 10 years, Honeywell has worked with CaseBank to enhance and fine tune SpotLight – a Web-based Diagnostic Support Service that provides interactive troubleshooting guidance.

As a result of the collaboration, SpotLight boasts a knowledgebase of more than 6,000 cases focusing on a variety of Honeywell engines and APUs, including TFE731, CFE738, TPE331, HTF7000 and 36-100/-150 & RE100/220 series APUs.

PC users can access SpotLight 24/7 via Honeywell’s Aerospace Customer Portal, or directly from CaseBank’s website at http://hwportal.casebank.com. SpotLight Mobile is included with a subscription and allows access via any SmartPhone, PDA, BlackBerry or iPhone with a data connection service.

Spotlight has been shown to reduce line maintenance troubleshooting time and unsubstantiated part removals.

Customers with engines and APUs under warranty and MSP customers are eligible to register for SpotLight access at no charge for the duration of their contracts. Customers out of warranty/MSP contracts may gain access to Spotlight by contacting a Honeywell authorized Service Center, or purchasing a subscription directly from CaseBank’s website. For more information, consult Service Information Letter (SIL) D200909000009 or contact your Honeywell Customer Support Manager.

Honeywell’s Customer & Product Support organization employs a group of experienced pilots dedicated to supporting fielded aircraft, and providing training for avionics and FMS installed during production or retrofit. Pilots are manufacturer focused and can be contacted via email or phone for operational-type questions.

In our never-ending effort to improve performance and focus on what’s important to our customers, Honeywell Aerospace Customer & Product Support is streamlining additional Aircraft on Ground (AOG) processes at Avionics Repair and Overhaul (R&O) sites around the world.

Flight Tracking Takes on a New LookThe new flight-following tool offers customers an interface that is faster, more accurate and easier to use. It features a new Google map graphical interface to easily track flights, spot turbulence and view weather patterns that may cause flight delays.

The new flight-following tool features include:

  • Point-and-click data link fleet communications
  • Access to historical uplink and downlink messages, and position reports
  • A worldwide airport and VHF station locator
  • Customizable screens
  • Views in Spherical 3D mode

All customers began transitioning to the new interface May 14, 2010.

Note: Internet Explorer 6 users need to upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 or Firefox to take advantage of this new capability.

If you have any questions, suggestions or comments, please contact the GDC team at 1-888-634-3330 or 425-885-8100 or email gfo@mygdc.com.

Requested features and improvements can now be found in Primus Apex Build 6.2 with FMS Version 7.1.

The update features WAAS, also called SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation System), which provides differential GPS correction for improved lateral and vertical accuracy comparable to an ILS Category 1 (precision approach) system. The space-based augmentation system (SBAS) implements a ground sensor-generated correction signal transmitted to an SBAS-equipped GPS receiver by way of a geo-synchronous satellite. This eliminates the RAIM consideration requirement, bringing GPS approach availability to 100 percent. Minimums are typically lower than LNAV/VNAV GPS approaches, and the system is compatible with EGNOS (Europe) and other SBAS systems.
